Crochet and Knitting Charities
This is something I've been doing since I learned how to knit and crochet. I figured if I only made items for myself I would run out of things to make or room for it all.
Here are some of the people I've donated to:
The Snuggles Project
supplies dogs and cats with blankets, made by volunteers.
There is a list of shelters that accept these blankets. You can choose by country or state if looking within the United States.
Look them up here: http://www.h4ha.org/animal-shelters
Sizing Info: http://www.snugglesproject.org/about/how-you-can-help.html
When I emailed the local shelters in Wisconsin where I live I was told they didn't need any so you may want to contact the shelters first. ******************************************************

Send 8 inch squares, hats, socks, sweaters, vests for the millions of orphaned children in South Africa. They have a huge website with a lot of information on it. I listed some specific links below. The past newsletters are very informative. It's heart breaking to see the "situation" these kids are in

My heart went out for these children. It's so hard to see the conditions these children have to live in and the smile on their faces when they received their blanket, hat and sweater.

Warm Up Americas website says: (warmupamerica.org)
"Warm Up America! is always accepting these knit and crochet items.
● Finished adult, child, and baby size blankets and lapghans for wheelchairs
● Adult hats
● Scarves
● Baby clothing
● 7″ x 9″ knit and crochet sections "
They have created this wonderful reference on the size of blankets that are needed.
The blankets don't need to be in 7x9 sections they can be made in 1 piece. The address at the bottom reads:

This was left in a comment:Bundles for Babies is a project that makes blankets, sweaters, hats, and booties for the newborn of our Veterans. The American Legion Auxiliaries sponsor this project. We need newborn and preemies sizes. Many of our Veterans are deployed and have loved ones at home to have and care for the new member of the family. Most of these families have little means to get by on and can use your help. We take donations of yarn...any type or amount as well as the finished projects.
You can contact her: Janet Bell @ janetbel85@hotmail, for more information.
If you know of a charity you would like listed please let me know.
Thanks!
Heather
