Crochet Cable Columns

I am using this stitch pattern of post stitches to make a crocheted pet blanket for the snugglesproject.org    I like to make them soft and all these columns of post stitches do just that.

Sometimes they are called Crochet Cables. Usually cables are when you cross Post Stitches but i'm just calling these Crochet Columns.

Skill Level: Beginner/Easy  (It's not as complicated as it looks)

Finished Size: 9 by 6 inches
Yarn: I Love This Yarn, Turquoise
Hook Size: I
Chain: 27 or Multiple of 6 + 3

Stitches used:

• HDC
• Front Post Double Crochet - Wrap the yarn around the stem, from the front, of the next stitch and so a Double Crochet
• Back Post Double Crochet - Wrap the yarn around the stem, from the back, of the next stitch and so a Double Crochet
  
  Abbreviations:

• FP/DC: Front Post Double Crochet
• BP/DC: Back Post Double Crochet
• *-*: Repeat the instructions between them

Pattern:
REMEMBER: When you are done with the FPDC's make sure to skip the 3 stitches that you will see behind them, left unworked.

Row 1: Do 1 HDC in 3rd stitch from hook and in each stitch across the row (25 HDC)

Row 2: chain 2, turn, Do 1 HDC in each stitch across the row

Row 3: chain 2, turn, *Do 1 HDC in each of the first 3 stitches, Do 1 FP/DC, around the stem of the next stitch, in each of the next 3 stitches* repeat until the last 3 stitches and do 1 HDC in of the last 3 stitches

Row 4: chain 2, turn. *Do 1 HDC in each of the first 3 stitches, Do 1 BP/DC, around the stem of the next stitch, in each of the next 3 stitches* repeat until the last 3 stitches and do 1 HDC in of the last 3 stitches


                                                        Repeat rows 3 and 4 for pattern.
Finishing
Cut yarn and weave in all ends.
