Crochet Video Tutorial: Crochet Star Stitch (aka Daisy Stitch)

Below is a very popular Crochet stitch called the Star Stitch. Some call it the daisy stitch. It's quite easy when you get the hang of it. The video will be up in the afternoon of 10/29/15.
This pattern alternates with a row of HDC's. I'm calling it Version 2 because Version 1 uses ALL Star Stitches.

Use an odd number of chains for this pattern.

I HOOK SIZE
chain 19  is 4 inches wide. 7 rows is 3.5 inches tall
So Gauge is 4 ¾ chains per inch, and 2 rows per inch

J HOOK SIZE:
chain 19 is 4 1/4 chains per inch, and 1 3/4th rows per inch

J Hook For 7 inches wide, chain 30

Stitches:
Beginning Star: You are going to work into the 2nd and 1st chains that are part of the chain 3 you did at the beginning of this row so..................
  • Insert the hook into the 2nd chain of the chain 3, YO and pull thru (keep 2 loops on the hook).
  • Insert the hook into the 1st chain of the chain 3, YO and pull thru (keep 3 loops on the hook).
  • Insert the hook into the 1st SC, YO and pull thru (keep 4 loops on the hook).
  • Insert the hook into the next SC, YO and pull thru (keep 5 loops on the hook).
  • Insert the hook into the next SC, YO and pull thru all 6 loops.
Star Stitch:
  • Insert hook into the chain 1 just made, YO and pull thru (2 loops)
  • Insert the hook into the last loop of the previous Star stitch. YO and pull thru (3 loops)
  • Insert the hook into where the previous Star stitch was made. YO and pull thru (4 loops)
  • Insert the hook into the next SC, YO and pull thru (5 loops)
  • Insert the hook into the next SC, YO and pull thru all 6 loops.

Row 1: sc across the row
Row 2: ch3, Do Beginning Star, ch1, *Star stitch, ch1* when you have 1 chain left do 1HDC in it. (11 stars)
Row 3: ch2, DO 2hdc in each ch1 sp from previous row , when you have 1 last stitch (not including the TCH) do 1 sc in it and also in the TCH. (24 hdc done).
Row 4: ch3, Beginning Star ch1, *Star stitch, ch1* when you get to the last stitch do 1HDC in it.

Repeat rows 3 and 4.

Let me know if you have any questions!
